Return of the King
In the Christian faith there is much talk about the second coming, the Rapture and the end of the world. Many Christians have the words but have not a clue to their real meaning. This is not a condemnation but a fact. Many of us in the HOOM thought we knew what it was all about. After all, this was the Master’s Order and we were teaching the Christian mysteries and the spiritual initiations. Then Father passed on and things fell apart, leaving us wondering how this could have happened. There were many of us determined to pick up the pieces and try to keep the integrity of the HOOM alive. A small group of us banded together and [re-started] the Science of Man. It was not the Order; it predates HOOM, a shadow of the past, a part of what was originally brought forth.
Let’s now step back and look at everything from a different perspective. We tend to be blinded by our own expectations instead of seeing what is really there and hearing what is told to us and given to us.
Let us look at the Order in the Light of the Second Coming. One of the revelations Father received from the Master stated that He was going to use Father so He could rest from physical form. Well, isn’t Jesus Christ going to come back in physical form? If not, what about the Second Coming? Here is where our preconceptions come in again. It is broadly assumed in the Christian faith that Jesus is going to return in physical form, but what if he does not? Consider the possibility that the second coming is a personal internal spiritual transformation experience that occurs as an individual receives and works with the Illumination. When Jesus Christ ascended and his spiritual body encompassed the earth, the transformation process began and will continue until every individual has experienced this transformation. We had the answer all along right in front of us. Have not many received the Light of Christ? As each receives the Light, the Body of Christ grows. The fire has been kindled and cannot be put out. No one can stop the return of the King because it is not an outward event. It comes from within. As more and more receive the Light, the earth itself is transformed. This transcends all groups, religions, dogmas, and persons. No personal claim can be laid on it. It unites all and transcends all barriers we have created. The Order did not fail any more than everybody who contributed to this event and continues to do so has. We are all brothers and sisters united by the one thread, the Light of Christ. -Rev. As the Summer Solstice arrives again here in the Northern Hemisphere, we are reminded that the patterns of creation continue. The most Light of our solar year is shining now upon us. With this Light all things are revealed and we see it shining on the just and the unjust in equal power, force and energy. We are reminded that it is not a respecter of persons. All are affected by it. The use of these gifts are available to all. As the earth continues to rise in vibration, we are reminded that we are to be the channels of this gift, to bring the Christ to all who would seek it. The mission continues.

From Father Paul: sermon 1/20/74
My text is coming out of Matthew, 18th chapter:
At that time one of the disciples came up to Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” So Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
And said, “Verily I say to you, Except ye be converted, and become like a little child, ye shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall welcome one like this little child in my name welcomes me. But whoso misleads one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whose hand the offenses come!
…And I’ll just speak in passing: he says “And who will welcome one like this little child in my name welcomes me.” It is not for me to make a decision whether a thing is right or wrong: Jesus Christ made that decision long before this time. ..He has told the people completely, if you wish to welcome me, he who welcomes one of these, welcomes me. And once more when a child is conceived, welcome him into this world, then you are welcoming the Master too. If you turn aside from that welcome, then the Master is not welcomed. Pretty simple. Nothing else.
Now let us pass from that to something that is very important as far as we’re concerned about training and about those things which we are interested in in this Order: And so Jesus called a little child and made him stand up in the midst of them and he said “Truly I say to you, unless you change and become like a little child, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
…He didn’t say if you were Protestant; if you were Catholic, if you were Mormon or Buddhist or anything else: he said very simply just that: unless you change and become like a little child you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. You shall not be permitted to go into the higher realms of things. He didn’t say conditionally if you were Buddhist, well, you might make it that route, but this route you wouldn’t. Just flatly and very decidedly that you were not going to make it unless you become as a little child. Whosoever will humble himself like this child shall be great in the kingdom of heaven. Now humility, of course, is necessary to some degree, in order to have obedience. That is why I have so often said to an individual or a student just coming in or one who is already here who is saying well I can’t seem to make it. I can’t seem to reach the Self. I can’t seem to receive the Light – I’ve tried, I’ve prayed, I’ve done this and that and the other thing.
And I’ve said, you be obedient and I will take you there. Because I know that if they are obedient they have some degree of humility—there has to be. When you have that degree of humility it is possible for it to grow, unless you stop it. And of course you stop it when you try to figure it out. All the power, all the love of God, and all the wisdom which is accessible through that power and love, stands ready, and the vow that turns it on and lets it come is when you stop trying to do and plan your life in this community. For when you’re trying to plan it, you’re not listening to Jesus Christ, and when you’re not listening to Jesus Christ, you’re not being a little child.
I have many times talked with people that have said to me “You know Father it’s strange: I just wonder if I’m being tempted or if I have to be persecuted and so on. I’ve always gone to church, given of my worldly goods to the church, (it doesn’t make any particular difference as what church they were going to) and you know I’ve always tried to do unto others as I would have them do unto me. And I haven’t hurt or abused anybody” And they go on with this nice long list of things that they did—but every one of those things, all the way down, they did. But nowhere, nowhere was God listed or the will of Jesus Christ or the Father. Nowhere did they say to me in any particular category, “Well I wonder why this didn’t work because well, I have prayed about it for a long time.”
Many diligent people, many well-meaning people, many good people don’t get their prayers answered because they always stand in their own way. Look, all you got to do in this community is be obedient and be humble and just listen.
You know something happened a little while ago…I had an evening that I had to make a little contact with the Master. He said “I want you to stay quiet till ten o’clock, for an hour.” I said well I’ve been awful busy with these brothers down here. He said “when you’re busy with somebody else I can’t get a chance to talk to you!”
You can’t listen and talk at the same time. I’m sure I’ve never seen a person that has accomplished it yet.
Nine out of every ten that come in for counselling into my office, their trouble is just a busy mind trying to figure out what they’re going to do and whether it’s right or not. And whether they can squeak over that line, just out of the way of being wrong and disobedient. If they can get just by that line over on this side, so that they’re not disobedient, they’re not breaking the law, but boy, are they trying hard to get as close to it as they can–and would they like to if they felt they could get away with it. But they’re a little afraid of the Big Policeman up there, you know.
Really, there are so many people that are good only because they’re afraid to be anything else. And that’s not a good situation either. Now you can rule people with fear, but that isn’t going to change them, because until they give to their God, to their Father, and to Jesus Christ who paid the price, willingly, wanting to do it, with love of doing it…

The philosopher’s stone (Latin): lapis philosophorum; Greek: chrysopoeia) is a legendary substance, supposedly capable of turning inexpensive metals into gold; it was also sometimes believed to be an elixir of life, useful for rejuvenation and possibly for achieving immortality. For a long time, it was the most sought-after goal in Western alchemy. In the view of spiritual alchemy, making the philosopher’s stone would bring enlightenment upon the maker and conclude the Great Work. In an old Rosicrucian text, the author maintains that it is an actual stone that forms in the head between the pituitary and thymus glands. This stone it is said exists literally within the great Saints and teachers.
Be that as it may; the forming of the philosophers’ stone and the conclusion of this great work is quite possibly the greatest achievement of all.
Mother once told me that she believed that Father was an Alchemist. This is possibly one of the greatest understatements of our time (as only Mother could make). We truly witnessed and participated in the formation and manifestation of this great alchemical process. The Heavens opened, and the Power, Force and Energy of the Great One filled the earth. We were all changed in the twinkling of an eye.
It is a small stretch of the imagination indeed, for us all here to imagine the experience of the Great Master’s disciples when they first felt His mantle descend upon them some 2000 years ago. We were taught that the Earth had crystallized almost to a point beyond hope. The Great Master physically demonstrated through his mission the great path, and through his crucifixion performed the greatest of all alchemy. He opened the door for us all and taught us how not only to “Live” in this world and deal with the profound demands of the environment; but also how to use the law to move mountains.
I remember that our beloved teacher Father Paul always had a copy of Earnest Holms book Science of Mind on his desk. I believe that this is really an important book for us all, because it is in essence a simple book on alchemy. Indeed; we are all junior alchemists if we are mindful of the Power, force and energy all around us, and in all things. Father Paul and the Science of Mind simply remind us of the proper application of these Laws of nature and of God, as this has greater ramifications than we can imagine.
As we all here stand behind the veil in the shadow of the great radiance; and as we recite as with one voice the Holy Sacrament of Communion, might we this… season more fully participate in the Great Work of the brothers in White and our planets’ Great Master and King, Jesus Christ. There is a white magic, a breathless hush and a tender reverence permeating the atmosphere on Holy Night as the nature Angels, together with loftier celestial Beings, combine their forces and reverse the cosmic currents. For the past six months they had been moving on the descending arc; for the next six months, culminating at the Summer Solstice, they will move upward on the ascending arc. The mighty surge of this cosmic power propels all life upward; and the same rising tide of spiritual force lifts the spinal spirit fire in the body of man. So, in those who have made sufficient preparation this fire may be lifted to the head and effect a state of true illumination.
This cosmic process is accomplished through the power of musical harmony and rhythm. It is an action of the Creative Word, which Saint John declares to have been from the beginning and by which all created things came into being.

Sacraments in the Life of an Initiate: ILLUMINATION
Our Master has instructed us: “Illumination is not just a matter of your receiving some light and being able to see it. Illumination is a matter of receiving light and then letting go and letting go and letting go until your complete body is full of light, until you have so much light that you can never see darkness.”
As a disciple, you must step out in faith, acting upon the Baptism which you have received, and through Communion with Jesus Christ, your service and activity will become a living prayer which allows this Light to build within your physical vehicle. The divine Christ Light will come to those who give themselves in selfless service and in humility submit to the Divine Life and higher Mind within.
It is only when you experience perhaps more fully than ever before in your life the reality of one’s separation from God; only when you approach a point, so to speak, of reality where you recognize the total failure of your own devices, that you can really give yourself up—which is the only thing that will really let the Light enter.
A disciple who has truly experienced this degree of Illumination will have an altered countenance, and a transformed life which those around will witness. There is a definite change in the state of being of the person who has really received the Light of Christ.
It is truly a gift, a sacred and precious gift, made possible through the sacrifice of the Christ. You are privileged to participate in a great mystery and a holy sacrifice. As you are entering into the sacrament of Illumination you are a new child of light, on your way toward greater understanding and realization of God.

It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going, because they were holding on to something. That there is some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.
